Ryley Hibbs is a partner at Chambers Russell Lawyers with a practice in commercial litigation, focusing on building and construction disputes and strata matters. With experience spanning both private practice and the banking sector, Ryley advises a wide range of clients on contentious and non-contentious matters. Ryley regularly works on various significant defect matters in the Technology & Construction list of the Supreme Court of  New South Wales, and has acted in all major New South Wales jurisdictions, including appellate, tribunal, and civil courts, and regularly presents seminars and publishes articles to inform industry stakeholders on emerging legal issues.

  • Acting in commercial and construction litigation matters across Local Court of New South Wales, the District Court of New South Wales, the Supreme Court of New South Wales, and appellate courts.
  • Advising clients in strata disputes and management rights issues, and successfully negotiating various repair agreements with builders, including in respect of repairing combustible cladding and waterproofing defects.
  • Obtaining multi-million settlements on behalf of owners corporations for defects claims.
  • Preparing and presenting seminars on property, construction, and strata law.
  • Publishing articles on relevant legal developments to inform practitioners and industry stakeholders.

  • The Owners – Strata Plan No 90189 v Parkview Constructions Pty Ltd [2022] NSWSC 1382. – defeating a Motion brought by the builder to seek an advanced ruling in respect of the owners corporation’s evidence.
  • The Owners – Strata Plan No 90189 v Parkview Constructions Pty Ltd (No 2) [2022] NSWSC 1477 – obtaining an indemnity costs order against the builder in respect of a failed Motion.
